PROMYS Foundation

The PROMYS Foundation supports PROMYS, the Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists, a summer math program for gifted high school students held at Boston University.

Our mission is to ensure that every student who could benefit from PROMYS has the opportunity to do so, regardless of financial need.

  • July 2 - August 12, 2023: PROMYS ran its 35th summer on the Boston University campus. A total of 80 high school students, 21 undergraduate couneslors, and 3 junior counselors participated from 25 US states and 9 other countries including Ethiopia and Romania. Twenty students received a total of $107,267 in support, including 12 full scholarships.

  • July 3 - August 12, 2023: PROMYS for Teachers ran in person at Boston University with first-year and returning teachers from Massachusetts, California, New York, Texas, India, and Senegal.

  • May 7 - June 17, 2023: PROMYS India launched successfully in partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore. There were 31 high school students and 8 counselors. Thanks to the founding sponsors, all accepted students received full scholarships.

  • July 3 - August 13, 2022: PROMYS 2022 ran in person on the Boston University campus for the first time since 2019! Students and counselors participated from 26 US states and territories and 11 other countries. 40% of students received need-based financial aid, including many full scholarships.

  • July 4 - August 12: PROMYS for Teachers (PfT) ran in person after two virtual summers with a small, but dedicated group of teachers!

  • July 5 - July 29, 2022: The PROMYS Math Circle (PMC) Summer Program ran in person for the first time. For 4-6 hours per weekday at Boston University, students and mentors worked collaboratively on challenging mathematics. PMC is a free program designed for ambitious students in high-needs public schools.

  • Summer 2022: The Yongren Fellowship was awarded to Jiushan Xie, a rising high school senior.

  • Summer 2022: Eighteen Mehta Fellows participated in PROMYS 2022 including 12 first-year fellows from India, Egypt, Nepal, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. The Mehta Fellowships have been funded since 2015 by Nick Nash & Phalgun Ragu, Avi & Sandra Nash, the Indira Foundation, and Morph.org.
